| Villa Meina

Villa Meina is a pleasant 19th
century villa located on Lake Maggiore in the town of Meina and
offers the perfect base for your holiday on the lake. Although
accessed by the busy coastal road of Lake Maggiore, this
comfortable and tasteful accommodation provides a peaceful
setting. The garden leading off of the back of the house
stretches directly down to the lake and offers a very private
and relaxing space.
The villa occupies two floors and
comfortably sleeps six people.
The ground floor consists of a
large living room with comfortable period furnishings,
fireplace, satellite TV and direct access to the patio.
There is a spacious fully equipped eat-in kitchen with oven,
dishwasher, and washing machine. There is also a WC on this
floor.
An attractive spiral staircase
leads to the upper floor where there are three bedrooms and two
bathrooms.
Two of the bedrooms have a pretty
lake view - one is a queen bedded room and one is a twin bedded
room with en suite bathroom with shower. Both the double
bedroom and the twin bedded room have mosquito screens. There
is a second bathroom on this floor that is spacious and has a
shower and bathtub.
There is also a third
bedroom (toward the busy lakeside road) with double bed and a
very comfortable sofa bed and extra folding bed (available on
request).
Villa Meina's outdoor areas are particularly appealing. The terrace right off of the kitchen is covered and nicely furnished offering a very enjoyable space for outdoor dining. There is also a barbecue and ping pong table. The garden and lawn leading directly down to the lake are bordered by large hedges providing privacy. There is direct access to the lake by way of a ladder at the end of the garden. There is a public beach approximately 300 meters from the house and it is possible to rent a boat at a nearby boat rental (2km). Location
Inclusions: About the area
Many excellent restaurants are located in the area as well as cafés and shops. Tennis court and Olympic size swimming pool are at a 5 minute drive. Water sports such as sailing, windsurfing, water skiing are available in Stresa, Belgirate and Lesa. Touring ideas in the area include Stresa, the Borromeo Islands, Brissago Islands, Arona, Villa Taranto (botanical gardens), and the Cannero Riviera. A 10-minute drive brings you to the ferry launches at Arona and the romantic Lake Orta with Isola S.Giulio is only at a 15 minute drive. In Stresa (a 10 minute drive) you will find the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées in its wonderful setting. It offers beauty, fitness and anti-stress programs featuring all the most modern equipment. The region around Lake Maggiore is rich in religious monuments of every style and era. The numerous buildings dating to the Romanesque period testify to the importance of this area during the Middle Ages. The most important churches in the area have very well preserved antique frescoes and paintings. The statue of S. Carlo Borromeo (uphill in Arona), at 23.4 meters of height, is the second highest in the world after the Statue of Liberty in New York. The Sacred Mount of Ghiffa with its splendid religious edifices is located in a very panoramic position overlooking the Lombard shore of the lake and here you have the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful nature hike. |
