We arrived earlier than expected, and it was difficult to keep our excitement in check. We thought we would scout out the property first ourselves, but in typical Veneto fashion, the address given us was slightly different than the correct one, as was the name attached to the house.

Mr. Rigoni, a retired engineer and professor, is the owner of the property. He finally arrived at the correct address, where he had advised us to wait. Like a child on Christmas morning, I was trying to peak beyond the gate it was taking him so long to open! When the moment finally arrived, and the house was in full view, I was speechless. Charmingly rustic, the house far exceeded my expectations. Mr. Rigoni took us all around the outside of the house first. He pointed out the incredible views, the olive trees, retaining walls and woodpiles, all at our disposal.
