Casa Alta is set in a much-desired location on the beautiful hills in
the heart of Romagna Toscana, an untouched region that is off the
beaten track of most tourists. It is located at the border of
Foreste Casentinesi, a national park extending southward into
Tuscany. The town of Faenza is 28 km away and has been famous for
its exquisite ceramics since the 14th century. On the north
side of this peaceful and lush valley, guests will find the tiny Tuscan
village of Lutirano; on the other side of the valley, 3 km down the
hill into Romagna, is the village of Tredozio. Tredozio offers
guests lovely restaurants, shops, bars, banks, bakeries and a post
office. Casa Alta is just half way between Florence (Km 85) and
Bologna (80 km). Ravenna, capital of the world's finest Byzantine
mosaics outside of Istanbul, is 45 km away.

Alta is set atop the highest ridge of the Lorenzo Estate. The sun
rises over the Romagna Apennines to warm the pool and the shaded
breakfast loggia, and sets behind the Apennines of Tuscany that stretch
out endlessly from the front of the house. The villas of
Casa
Eleonora and
Casa
Caterina are very near Casa Alta. Renting these properties
together would work well for large groups and special events.
Originally a shepherd's house, Casa Alta was tastefully renovated in 2005. The restoration consists of two large accommodations that can be rented together or separately. When rented together, the two units can be connected through an internal staircase. Each unit sleeps 8 people, and together can accommodate up to 16 people in 8 double bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
In the restoration the owners used the finest local materials - terracotta flooring, chestnut from their own trees, and tiles from the nearby factories of Faenza. Casa Alta has many modern comforts, but still maintains a traditional charm.
The villa has a large garden with furnished patio, gazebo, lounge chairs and a panoramic swimming pool (10x5 meters, depth 1.2-1.9 meters), which has a stunning view of the valley.
Two hours of housekeeping and a linen change are included on Friday or Saturday for stays of more than one week. Extra bed linen is available for 10 Euros per set and extra towels are
available for 5 Euros per set. Additional housekeeping is available at Euros 13/hour
Interior Description:
The ground floor has an entrance hall and dining area, including a
large table for 16 and a fireplace. There is also a large kitchen with refrigerator,freezer, oven, microwave,
toaster, dishwasher, kettle and American coffee machine. This kitchen and dining room are used when
both of the apartments are rented together. At the end of the
room is an internal door that connects the two apartments. On
this level there is also a large laundry room with a washing machine,
sink, iron and ironing board,

note that this large kitchen is available only when the Casa Alta 1 and
Casa Alta 2 are rented by the same group. Otherwise, it will not
be open. When renting both of the apartments, guests will be
allowed to use only the two kitchens located on the ground floor of the
villa. The third kitchen on the first floor will not be available.
Casa Alta 2: sleeps 8 people in 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
The entrance to this apartment is from the ground floor.
A 20-step staircase leads from the entrance to the second floor. All of the rooms of this apartment have terrific views over the countryside. The spacious living room has a fireplace, leather sofas, satellite TV, DVD, stereo and ceiling fans. The dining room has a table that seats 8. The fully equipped kitchen is outfitted with a microwave, dishwasher, and American style coffee maker.
There are four double bedrooms, all with ceiling fans, and four bathrooms located on this floor. The master bedroom has a double bed, and the remaining three bedrooms have two twin beds. Three of the bathrooms have showers, and one has a tub with handheld shower. There is also a small terrace with a table and two chairs on this floor.
The facilities include central heating and a washing machine in the
laundry area.
The pool is postioned next to the house in a very panoramic setting and is shared with
guests of Casa Alta 2. Lounge chairs and garden furniture is provided. A BBQ is available. Car parking is discreetly
out of sight. Pool towels are included.
In 2010 the pool will be open from May 8 to September 25.
A catered dinner and cooking classes are available upon request for an
additional charge. A cell phone is available with a prepaid
card. Internet access is not available.
