Located near the border between Emilia Romagna and Tuscany, Casa
Caterina stands on a bluff overlooking the Lutirano valley. Casa
Caterina is a classical country house a few kilometres (5 km) away from
the village of Tredozio. The village of Tredozio is wonderfully
quiet, yet harbors a number of inviting restaurants, particularly the
Mulino di San Michele (once an old mill). A ten-minute drive takes
guests from Casa Caterina to the village center, which contains the
conveniences of grocery shops, bakeries, bars and a bus station.

Casa Caterina has been skillfully converted from an old farmhouse into
a villa on two levels, with spectacular views from every room.
The swimming pool on site is 10x5 meters with depths 1.20-1.9 meters
and pool towels are available.
The first level of the villa consists of an entrance with a dining
area, a large living room with a fireplace and French windows with
access to the garden, and a fully-equipped kitchen with an oven,
dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer. On this floor there is
also a double bedroom with a bathroom and shower.
A spiral staircase leads to the second level. On this level there are
two twin bedrooms (beds can be put together if desired). One of these
bedrooms has an en suite bathroom with shower. There is also another
bathroom with a bathtub. Both the bedrooms have access to the garden.
There is a utility room with washing machine, and an outdoor pizza oven
for making enchanting summer meals in the countryside. Satellite TV,
DVD player, stereo with CD player and radio are provided. Cell phone is
available.
The Area
Benefiting from a long history of prosperity, Emilia-Romagna is
imbued with the spirit of fine living and boasts many exceptional
Renaissance palaces and a particularly rich culinary heritage (lasagna,
tortellini, Parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar are just a few of many
delicious regional innovations). A number of enjoyable excursions are
easily undertaken from Casa Caterina. Faenza, with its
world-famous ceramics museum and production house, is about 30 km away,
and the splendid medieval fortress at Brisighella,
the focus of an annual medieval festival, is about 15 km away.
A drive of 50 km toward the Adriatic brings guests to Ravenna, the
location of the world's finest Byzantine mosaics outside of Istanbul,
and from here it's just minutes to the beautiful resort towns of the
coast.
The distinguished city of Bologna, 75 km northwest of Fantini, offers a
delightful urban experience and, remarkably, the Tuscan capital of
Florence is almost as close.
The villas of
Casa
Eleonora and
Casa
Alta are very near Casa Caterina. Renting these properties together
would work well for large groups and special events.
Notes
For stays of one week, two hours of housekeeping are provided on
Monday and Wednesday. For longer stays, an additional two hours
of housekeeping are provided with a change of towels and linens on
Friday. Extra bed linen is available for 10 Euros per set, and extra
towels for 5 Euros per set. The gardener checks the pool and the garden
every day.
A cell phone is available with a prepaid card. Internet access is
not available.
In 2010 the pool will be open from May 8 to September 25.
A catered dinner is available upon request for an additional charge. Pets
are permitted only upon request of the owner. Cooking classes and basic
grocery shopping are available upon request for an additional charge.
The owner is a Countess, and it is possible to have a special dinner at her 15th
century villa, for a cost of approximately 45 euros per person.
