Located in the heart of Chianti, Villa Lucolena offers an ideal
position for visiting the vineyards and hill towns of the Chianti
Classico and other parts of Tuscany. Florence and Siena are at an
equal distance from the villa, just 30 km away. Greve in Chianti
is about 15 minutes by car and the small town of Lucolena is 1 km
away. It features an excellent pizzeria that is open in the
summer. Train service to Florence is very easy from Figline
Valdarno which is 8 km from the villa. You can reach the main
Florence Santa Maria Novella in approximately 20 minutes.
Villa Lucolena is a traditional country villa, surrounded by vineyards,
olive groves and Mediterranean forests. It is just the
right place for a relaxing holiday in the quiet of nature.
Totally independent with its own private swimming pool and garden, the
villa has been tastefully restored and well furnished, offering an
excellent level of comfort.
Villa Lucolena is part of a rural complex which also includes the ruins
of a 14th century castle. The outbuildings have been restored
into four guest apartments which have their own garden and swimming
pool. For large groups, renting one or more of these welcoming
apartments provides extra space in addition to the main villa.
The Lucolena estate arises from a tiny borough that historically
included the ancient 11th century church and adjacent tower, built in
the Romanic style, which is now a private home. The main house
and principal part of the Villa dates back to the second half of the
19th century.
Up on the hilltop, in the deep vegetation of an ancient chestnut grove,
it is possible to find the ruins of the ancient Castel d'Azzo,
destroyed in the 14th century by fire. The combination of the beautiful
setting of the estate, the charm of the Tuscan medieval towns and
villages and the friendly family atmosphere will make your stay at
Villa Lucolena an unforgettable memory. Dinners and cooking
lessons can be arranged for your pleasure.
The complex is 1 km from Lucolena (where you can find local markets), 8
km from Figline Valdarno (all kinds of shops, tennis and riding school)
and Greve in Chianti. From the nearby Figline train station (8 km from
Villa Lucolena) you can reach central Florence in just 20 minutes. The
guests of the Villa have at their complete disposal a well maintained
garden with barbecue and a swimming pool (4m x 8m), open from May 1st

pool and a toilet. From here you have access to the private garden and
pool, with outside eating facilities and barbecue.
Ground floor: Entrance/sitting
room, living room (satellite TV, DVD, stereo and
telephone), three double bed rooms with ensuite bathroom with shower,
one twin-bed room with ensuite bathroom with shower.
First floor: In the
loft, there is a double bedroom with bathroom and shower, and a sitting
room with the possibility of 2 extra beds on request.

lessons and tours of the cellars with wine tasting, bike rental.
