Our stay was wonderful! Casa Rossa was perfect….the weather was perfect….Marina was a big help to us throughout the week, and she cooked us a wonderful dinner one night. She was always available to answer questions and give us her thoughts and ideas on where to eat, where to go, and how to really enjoy Positano. She was an exchange student in the US when she was in High school so her English is exceptional. She really wanted to make sure we enjoyed our stay…. My only regret, is that I wish I would have tried to shop and cook a meal at the Villa before our last night. ( I didn’t see the butcher shop until the end of the week…) I was apprehensive about using the cooktop, and actually preparing a meal….The kitchen was ( by Italian standards) a modern kitchen….And Marina would have helped me with any questions…. It was so easy when I finally did…. But then the food in the restaurants was wonderful…and we walked to them. Please do advise any of your guests going to the Amalfi coast… “ Do not rent a car…” We were so glad we did not…. We hired Mariella from Charm Limo and she was professional, informative, and very helpful. She was waiting right at the end of our train track for us at the Naples train station, so it really was a relief as we were very tired. She helped us with our luggage and guided us to her SUV and drove us right to the villa and phoned Marina a few times to update her on our arrival . She also picked us back up and drove us back to Naples. She also does small group tours. Highly recommend her! We decided on Tuesday that what we really wanted to do was enjoy our beautiful terrace and the beach. Every day was sunny and in the high 70’s…we had lazy mornings with coffee on the terrace and then as the sun warmed up, we walked the 600+ steps down to the beach where we rented umbrellas and beach chairs and read books ( and swan in the sea that was cool and refreshing!) and then around 4:30 we walked the 600 + steps back up to the villa and enjoyed our cocktail hour with the beautiful view of the Sea…. Along with the view, was the sound of distant voices from the other villas and the bells…..no horns, no noise, no loud music! We did not turn on the TV or the Cd player all week. Nor did we read a newspaper….the internet wifi was limited to the dining room ( which was just fine)…It really was a relaxing way to get away from our hectic lives here in the US. We spent the week living in a postcard…. C.L. October 2013 |
