Il Maestro is an enchanting property located on the estate of the splendid Villa Taranto, revered for its world famous botanical gardens.  Named after the famous conductor, Maestro Arturo Toscanini, our guest apartments are in a neighboring villa on the grounds.  They face the small island of Isola di S. Giovanni where Maestro Toscanini had his summer retreat. 

The building, built over three floors, dates to the 1800's and houses four apartments, one of which is reserved for a permanent resident.  Our offerings consist of Duet and Quartet that can be rented separately or together and Trio which is on two levels.  Each apartment has a separate entrance from the garden and faces the lake, offering views of the lush garden and/or Lake Maggiore. 

Guests are welcome to roam the truly unique historic garden right at the lake's edge and experience the remarkable mix of roses, azaleas, rhododendrons, camellias and two century-old magnolias.  Near the lake shore there is a small area on a lawn for sun lounges.  Stone steps lead into the water and in the summer there is a small pebble beach when the water level is low.

Please keep in mind that the Villa Taranto and its park are rented for wedding celebrations which often take place on weekends during the summer months.

There is also a very interesting 1800's water garage for the villa's private launch, and, on the opposite side of the lake with views of the east, the snow capped alpine mountains grace the horizon. Within a short walking distance is lively Pallanza, one of the lake's most impressive towns, where shops, stores, restaurants and cafes await your arrival. 

Il Maestro is a perfect accommodation for those wishing to travel without a car.  The railway station of Verbania/Pallanza is about 2 km away, from which you can easily reach Milan.  From the main train station in Milan there is a direct, regular train connection (Cisalpino) to Verbania/Pallanza, where you can take a taxi for the last 2 km to the property.

There are regular ferries running between Pallanza and other points on Lake Maggiore during the summer. 

Duet

Duet is perfect for a honeymoon, or for those who wish to relive their honeymoon!  It has a living room with high arched ceilings, a double bedroom separated by an arch (no door) and a bathroom with a tub.  There is a full kitchen with dining area opening onto a beautiful and romantic terrace overlooking the lake. 

Quartett

The ground level apartment, Quartett, is ideal for two adults and two children.  It opens directly to the garden.  Guests have, at the same level, a small living room, a bedroom with beds that can be made up as twins or a king (no door), small kitchen (stovetop with two elements) with dining area, bathroom with shower and a twin bedroom with bunk beds.  Quartett is great for a family of four while is not recommended for two adult couples.

There is a view of the garden from the twin bedroom. 

Duett and Quartett can be combined with one another via a connecting door on the basement thus allowing space for 6 people.

Trio

Trio is located on two levels and has two exits - one on the ground floor, the other on the 1st floor.

There is a  living room with large windows, a kitchenette and a double bedroom behind a curtain separated by an arch (no door). Downstairs there is a bathroom with shower and another room with large French doors opening to the garden.  In this room two extra beds can be used upon request.  There is a view of the garden and the lake through the treetops.

A washing machine to share among the guests of the three units is located in a separate room.  Parking is allowed inside the property, one car for each unit.  Pets are welcome, upon request and at extra cost.  Bikes and a wooden row boat are available upon request for a fee.

Each apartment is has a TV (regional channels) and two sun lounges per unit.  There is a small vegetable garden for the guests.
