The Fattoria Nittardi is located halfway between Florence and Siena, in the Chianti Classico district, 7 Km north of Castellina in Chianti. In the XVI century, Nittardi became the property of Michelangelo Buonarroti who, wanting to offer the Pope `a genuine gift`, asked his nephew to send some of the farm’s wine to Rome.
As a tribute to its celebrated former owner, Michelangelo Buonarroti, the farm has continued to maintain very close links with the world of art. Every year, since 1981, an international artist has created a label and tissue paper wrapping for a limited number of bottles of Chianti Classico which are much sought-after by collectors from all over the world.
The Casa Padronale of the Fattoria Nittardi, where the two apartments - Torre and Vasari – are located, still maintains its original character. During the renovation work, great care was taken to preserve the stylistic features so that the internal courtyard with well, the cellars where wine tastings are held and the large stone bread oven were completely unaltered.
The other three apartments - Marrina, Piero della Francesca and Bronzino – are in Casanuova, a renovated cottage 2.5 Km away from the Casa Padronale, which is furnished in a welcoming style and offers a highly personalized atmosphere.
Both the Casa Padronale and Casanuova have their own swimming pool as well as large outdoor areas with amenities. The property can be reached from the provincial road along an unpaved road that runs through vineyards and woods.
Florence is around 39 Km away, Siena 32.
