Its setting above Lake Maggiore offers remarkable views of the lake and the
mountains beyond. The private swimming pool (4,5 m x 9 m) is located in a
well maintained and enclosed garden and the views from here are also quite
magical.

Meina, halfway between Arona and Lesa, is a peaceful lakeside town with
cobbled streets on the western shore of Lake Maggiore. It has a variety of
shops and restaurants and its lake shore promenade is particularly
charming. From here it is possible to catch a ferryboat for excursions as
far as Locarno.
Lake Maggiore is home to many aristocratic villas and the entire coast of
Meina features a succession of villas and parks. Ernest Hemingway set part
of ‘A Farewell to Arms’ in the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromees in Stresa
which is 10 km from Villa Meina. Milano can be easily reached by train and
an excursion into Switzerland is just a half hour away.
This area is particularly suitable for sports (swimming, tennis, boating,
hiking) and includes many recreational sports facilities offering sailing
courses and other activities. It is also surrounded by 8 golf courses, all
of which are between 10 and 30 minutes away.
Villa Meina (190 sq meters) is furnished in modern style with warm
colors. The tiled floors and large windows with lake views create a bright
and cheerful atmosphere. The villa has excellent amenities including WIFI
broadband internet connection, SKYsatellite TV, CD/DVD player, washing
machine and a fully equipped kitchen.
This villa offers our special “arrive and relax” package:
A simple typical dinner is provided on your arrival night. This is a
welcome sight after a long flight and will allow you to check in, unpack and
relax. You will find the dinner in the kitchen with the instructions for
heating. The dinner is also suitable for vegetarian guests. It basically
consists of a pasta al forno, a vegetable tarte, salad, and fruit. Bread,
water and wine are included. No changes are possible for the first dinner.
The villa also will be stocked with basic groceries so that you do not have
to shop upon arrival or worry about store closures on Sunday. The shopping
list consists of: milk, coffee, tea, bread, biscuits, sugar, salt, water,
fruit, eggs, oil, butter, jam, orange juice, cereals. The quantity of the
items will be adjusted by the staff according to the number of guests.

LAKE MAGGIORE
In a surrounding of extraordinary beauty Lake Maggiore offers to its
visitors spectacular gardens boasting exceptional collections of camellias,
azaleas and rhododendrons, historic villas and castles, sacred routes,
medieval churches. An impressive number of parks are located here such as
the Parco Nazionale della Val Grande (the largest wilderness area in Italy).
The mountains, beyond the lake are wonderful, and each little village with
its painted houses seems a terrace on the water. In the center of the lake
float the three enchanted Borromeo Islands. The Isola Madre and Isola
Bella, where are the Borromeo palaces and gardens and the charming Isola dei
Pescatori (fishermen island). In front of Stresa stands, just above the
water, on a rocky cliff the Eremo di Santa Caterina.
The car free town of Orta S Giulio is a little jewel. Visit the 20
frescoed small chapels of the Sacro Monte above Orta San Giulio, with their
of terracotta sculptures illustrating scenes from the life of Saint Francis.
From Orta charming lakeside square you can admire the island of San Giulio,
dominated by the ancient basilica and the convent.
A little farther in the inland is the Villa della Porta-Bozzolo in
Casalzuigno, a masterpiece of early eighteenth-century landscaping.
Many sports activities can be practiced in Lake Maggiore such as sailing,
water skiing, canoeing, golfing (7 golf courses in the area), trekking horse
riding.
How to reach Lake Maggiore
By plane: Malpensa airport 20 to 45 minutes
By train: The international line links to Milan, to Genoa, Zurich and Basel
with Cisalpino, Milan to Paris with Stendhal.
By road: motorway A26 and A8 links the lake to Genova and Milano and the
Simplon.
