Numerous traces of Tuscany’s centuries old culture can be seen in its landscape: the unique architectural evidence of the region’s long, powerful history has contributed to creating charming views that have remained unchanged over the centuries, never ceasing to excite and astonish visitors. Badia di Passignano, in the heart of the Chianti district, is one of these magical places, an impressive, isolated architectural structure that stands out against the landscape, surrounded by cypress trees, silhouetted against the hills, vineyards, olive-groves and woods. Villa la Badia is one of several properties that originally belonged to the Badia or monastery which, over the years, were transformed into prestigious dwellings, creating a small, very exclusive and private residential area. The villa has the solid stone structure of a Tuscan farmhouse with a small turret-dovecote. Its elevated position offers 360° views of the surrounding hills that are covered in woods with occasional breaks to reveal cultivated fields. The recently completed renovation work shows the care, passion and excellent taste that the owner, an interior designer, has dedicated to this property, preserving the original materials, using antique elements, such as doors and fireplaces, and carefully choosing the furnishings, fittings and fabrics, which have been sourced from all over the world: the end result is truly surprising, a balanced blend of elegance, refinement and comfort, that makes this villa a truly exclusive destination. Outside, in addition to the furnished reserved areas where guests can sit and eat outdoors, the ancient basin that used to be a washtub has been transformed into a magnificent 18 x 4.5 meter sunken swimming pool, with salt water chlorination. Upon request, additional beds are available in the barn, situated at the entrance to the property. The villa’s isolated position offers guests the chance to experience a truly peaceful and relaxing holiday (the property is reached by following a dirt road that climbs uphill for the last 500 meters).

Accommodation (500 sq meters):

GROUND FLOOR: from the garden in the front part of the house: main entrance hall, to the right, a large kitchen with long table, fireplace, 7 burner cooker and double oven, large fridge with freezer, dishwasher; a door leads into the dining room and a French window leads out to the side of the house which is furnished with a gazebo and a table for eating “al fresco”. The entrance hall leads to the ample day area which is divided into three large parts: the living area with fireplace, the living area with French window leading out to the swimming pool, and the dining room with French window onto the swimming pool area. To the left of the entrance hall: 1 double bedroom (double or twin beds) with en suite bathroom and shower, 1 WC. In the entrance hall there is a staircase which leads up to the FIRST FLOOR: box room with small sofa, large living room with fireplace; on the left: 1 double bedroom which leads into 1 large bathroom with bathtub and shower and double washbasin, and 1 double bedroom (with double or twin beds) that has access to the same bathroom; on the right: 1 large master double bedroom with fireplace and 1 large en suite bathroom with shower; to the right of the box room: 1 double bedroom (with double or twin beds) with 1 en suite bathroom with shower. From the box room there is a staircase leading up to the COLOMBAIA (DOVECOTE): 1 studio bedroom with panoramic windows and 2 single beds.

Other services included in the price: Cleaning during the week 3 hours, 1 time per week for a total of 3 hours per week.
Paid on site in cash: Extra cleaning on request at a cost of € 12 per hour, shopping service €40; driver service, lunch or supper preparation with service, to be requested upon booking (minimum 6 people), price to be agreed. Firewood to be paid locally. For a late check in on arrival day (from 20:00 pm. onward) there will be an extra cost of € 50,00 to be paid directly to the key-holder.
Bed and bath linen: One set of bed and bath linen per week included in the price.
Cots for babies under 2 yrs: Cot with bars available: free of charge.
Pool open: May 2, 2015 to Sep 26, 2015
Additional beds cost (3 available): 100 Euros per week, to be paid on the premises.
Domestic pets: Not allowed
