The Nido is situated in an apartment complex set inside the lush Mediterranean vegetation at the first part of Portovenere, a stupendous hamlet of Roman origins, stretched out over a promontory in a setting of unequal natural beauty, making up the far western part of that fantastic setting known as the Gulf of Poets. The hamlet, which is characteristic and picturesque, the small port, its surrounding town wall, the famous Romantic Church of San Pietro perched on the cliff above the sea and the house-towers all lined up one against the other with their typical Ligurian colours, can be reached in just 10 minutes by walking along the panoramic road. There is also a bus service, a short distance from the complex car park (where the guests have a parking space available to them), which goes to the centre of town with its numerous restaurants. The unique aspect of this complex, built on a cliff rising above the sea, is that each apartment has a good level of privacy; you reach all the apartments from the car park, which is located higher up along the road, by going down through the vegetation along a stairway (for this reason the apartment is advised for clientele who are in good shape and like physical activity). There is also a small service lift (a kind of small cableway that passes through the vegetation) which reaches the apartments, but since it is outdoors, it sometimes does not work so the clients can not always depend on it. The apartment has an independent entrance and a fantastic terrace that runs alongside the house, with a breathtaking panorama of the Gulf, Portovenere and the archipelago islands opposite it; it is equipped for outdoor dining and it also has an outdoor kitchen with barbecue. The interiors have simple-style furnishings that are pleasant and bright. Going down a few ramps of stairs from the apartment you can reach a small private pier: if you are a good swimmer you can take a dip in the blue water. The complex also has a private buoy where you can dock, if you happen to rent a boat for going on day trips. The closest beach is approx. 800 m away and is equipped with establishments that rent sun umbrellas and lounge chairs (there is only 1 public beach without establishments). Children under the age of 8 are not allowed.
