The plain of the town of Lucca is bordered at the north-east by a series of hills, not particularly high, but quite steep, on the slopes of which were built some of the best-known historic villas in the Lucca area; and they were constructed here to take advantage of the favourable climate in the area, facing south and enjoying mild temperatures. Climbing almost to the top of one of these hills you come to the church of San Bartolomeo, originally from the late middle ages, which has been transformed during the succeeding centuries, but still preserving inside frescoes and paintings from 1500 to 1600. Not far from the church stands Ciciana, a beautiful, perfectly renovated farmhouse offering a magnificent view of the church and of the whole of the Lucca plain as far as the mountains near Pisa. It is just a short distance from the tiny village of the same name (130 inhabitants) and just 12 kms from the town of Lucca. It has been pleasantly and comfortably furnished with taste, is surrounded by a nice private garden, with a pergola for dining outside and with areas furnished for taking the sun and for enjoying the peace of the countryside, surrounded by green, wooded hills. Standing beside the nice 4x10m swimming-pool the view of Lucca and of the mountains that border the plain is even more spectacular. Just 25 kms away is Torre del Lago Puccini and the sea along the coast at Versilia is just 35 kms away.

GROUND FLOOR: Pergola with table for dining outside, entrance into the living-area with fireplace and kitchen enclosed by moveable panels, then through an arch you come to the dining-area with TV, then you go down a few steps in a large games room. INTERMEDIATE FLOOR: 1 double bedroom with en suite bathroom with shower (closed by opaque glass). FIRST FLOOR: 1 twin bedroom, 1 double bedroom, 1 bathroom with bath-tub, in a corridor covered by a curtain is the washing-machine area. (The car can be parked just 20 metres from the house, at the beginning of the little road, only for guests of the house, leading uphill to the property).
Bed and bath linen: One set of bed and bath linen per week included in the price.
