The hills around Lucca still preserve a large number of villas from the 1600s to the 1900s which were the country residences of the most affluent local bourgeois. Villa Pedone was built around the beginning of the 1800s and was completely renovated in 2002, with the aim of leaving all of the original architectural features intact, while at the same time bringing all the services and comforts up to modern standards. The villa lies about 7 km from the center of Lucca in a very panoramic and peaceful spot. It is surrounded by a beautiful Italian garden where they have added a private 5x10 m swimming-pool in a way that is in perfect harmony with the prestige of the building. The furnishings consist of antique pieces which are well-suited to the general look of the house. The villa is equipped with modern comforts such as telephone, internet connection, stereo with CD player, satellite-TV, dishwasher, laundry with a washing-machine and dryer, and central heating. On request a cooking service can be provided for evening meals, as well as baby-sitting. Villa Pedone is also a good starting-point for wonderful day trips to the various parts of Tuscany: the beaches in Versilia are just 35 km away, Florence can be comfortably reached in less than an hour by car and Pisa is only about 30 km away. You can also enjoy the excellent local cuisine in the many typical restaurants that you will find in and around the hills near Lucca
