Umbria is fondly referred to as
being 'the green heart of Italy' and it is easy to see why at Val di Marco.
Spectacular views of the Appenine Mountains that stretch between Umbria and Le
Marche can be enjoyed from the villa. A sweep of verdant hills dotted with
ancient towers, abbeys and fortified hill villages intermingle with the
mysticism of St. Francis that permeates this
region. A network of Franciscan trails pass through the area and the Val di
Marco property boasts the trail that historically went from Assisi to Gubbio,
two of the best preserved medieval villages in central Italy.
The estate encompasses 60 acres of woods, pastures and olive groves and offers
excellent opportunities for simple walks, hiking and mountain biking. The
locally produced organic olive oil is available for purchase.
Val di Marco’s location near Valfabbrica in the hills behind Assisi makes it a
perfect holiday home for large groups and family reunions. It provides a great
sense of peace and privacy while also being in good striking distance to the
sights to be seen in this part of Umbria – Assisi, Gubbio, Perugia, Umbertide,
Todi and many others. The closest town is Pianello at 6 km and there is an
excellent restaurant located less than 2 km from the villa.
Val di Marco is a large “casa colonica”, the characteristic stone Umbrian
farmhouse typical to this region. Dating back to the 1700s and very recently
restored, the house is very welcoming to groups of family and friends and can
accommodate a maximum of 20 people. Furthermore, its creative floor plan is
unique so that smaller groups of 8 – 10 can also be accommodated for reduced
pricing thus making Val di Marco an ideal dwelling for large and small groups.
The owner has taken great care with the restoration, especially maintaining the
integrity and character of the structure while also providing modern
conveniences such as a fully equipped kitchen (stove, refrigerator, oven and
dishwasher) television, DVD player and washing machine. Elegant rustic
describes the fabrics and furniture which are tasteful and of high quality. The
grounds are expansive and the large areas around the house, garden and pool are
enclosed. The swimming pool (12X6) benefits from a superb panoramic position.
It is handicap accessible and a large sun terrace with gazebo and sun loungers
offer a relaxing place for guests to enjoy the Umbrian countryside.
The house is distinctive in its layout and floor plan. Special consideration
was given to providing private space for guests as well as a communal gathering
area where everyone can be together for meals and relaxation. There are six
guest apartments, each with independent entrance. A spacious common room, also
with an independent entrance, houses a well equipped kitchen and lounge area
with television and DVD. Guests can choose to dine here or outdoors on the
nicely furnished patio with remarkable views of the peaceful Umbrian hills.
Each guest apartment accommodates between 2 to 4 people and has a modular
kitchen cabinet unit with stovetop, sink and small refrigerator. The couch in
the sitting room has a standard mattress and can be converted into a sofa bed.
Washing machine and ironing facilities are provided.
There is ample parking on the grounds.
The Val di Marco property can be rented in different combinations; for 20
people (six apartments), 12 people (six apartments) and 8 people (four
apartments – Ginestra and Rosa Canina are closed off ) and is priced
accordingly. Regardless of the number of occupants, the property is exclusive
and private to the guests renting it.
