This classic 'Casa Colonica' is a beautifully restored Umbrian farmhouse sitting
above the
nearby fields that are planted alternatively with sunflowers or wheat, depending on
the year. The central location near Marsciano makes it a perfect starting point
for excursions throughout Umbria. Its appealing position is also ideal for
those who simply wish to enjoy this relaxing landscape. The sweet medieval
village of Morcella is within walking distance at 2 km as is the pretty town of
Compignano at 1.5 away. This makes for pleasant outings in this very typical
and peaceful Umbrian countryside. There is a small grocery shop in each town.
Villa Morcella offers views where the eye gets
lost following the contours of the neighboring hillsides. The large swimming
pool (12m X 6m) located a few meters behind the house benefits from a very sunny
and panoramic position. Superb sunsets can be enjoyed here due to the special
orientation toward the west. The spacious grounds are well maintained and there
is a pleasant patio with table and chairs off of the ground floor for outdoor
dining. It is located under a grapevine pergola that promises to be fully grown
by spring. Also offering wonderful views is the first floor covered terrace
that is furnished for outdoor dining and relaxation.
The house
itself is a characteristic Umbrian stone house that has been newly restored
maintaining its original components and features. Considerable attention has
been given to color, fabrics, style and quality and furnishings are comfortable
and in tasteful rustic fashion. In addition to the customary stove and
refrigerator, the kitchen has a conventional oven, a microwave oven, dishwasher
and there is a separate building that houses the washing machine and ironing
facilities. Also found in this annex are a wood burning oven and barbecue,
making Villa Morcella a perfect home away from home for a large group of friends
or a family gathering.
There is
ample parking and access to the villa is 1.5 km on unpaved well-maintained road.
