Franina is a peaceful, modern apartment located in a residential
complex 3 km uphill from Lesa (on the south-west bank of Lake
Maggiore). Franina has excellent views of both Lake Maggiore and
the mountains in the distance. The apartment is surrounded by a
large garden and two swimming pools that are shared with the other
units. The complex (25,000 sq meters) has a security-controlled
access gate for the 54 apartment units. Franina is located in the
smallest group of units, therefore offering a more favorable and
private setting. The two heated swimming pools are shared, with
one (10 x 10 meters) being a children’s pool and the other (20 x 10
meters) for adults. In 2009, the pools are open from the first
week of June to the first week of September. The gardens are well
maintained, with a variety of mature trees and bushes. Each unit
has its own private garage for two cars, making parking very easy for
guests of Franina.

Franina (110 sq meters) is an apartment on the second floor of a modern
building. It sleeps four people in two bedrooms. One
bedroom is a double bedroom and the second bedroom has two single beds
that cannot be joined. The apartment consists of a living room
with kitchenette and dining area, one bathroom with tub and handheld
shower attachment, and another with a toilet and sink. The
outside area is directly accessed from the living room and has two
lounge chairs and a table and chairs for al fresco dining. The
living room has large French doors that open onto the garden. The
space is very comfortable with a sofa, and a dining area with a table
for six people. The facilities at Franina include: washing
machine, dishwasher, microwave, satellite TV, toaster, American coffee
maker and central heating.
Franina’s location, 6 km from Arona (southward) and Stresa (northward),
offers a variety of sights and activities. The small town of Lesa
(5 minutes by car) has many shops and restaurants, a post office,
grocery store and pharmacy. Lesa also has several beaches and a
sports center with a swimming pool and tennis court. From Lesa it
is easy to visit the Borromean Islands, named for the family that has
owned them since the 12th century. The islands
consists of Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori, which are
known for their beautiful gardens, exotic birds, characteristic narrow
streets and delicious restaurants. Also easily accessed
from Franina are many lakeshore villages, markets and spas – not to
mention daytrips into the beautiful mountains and nearby
Switzerland. There are excellent spots for hiking and golfing,
with two golf courses within 15 minutes of Franina. The train to
Milan, from either Arona or Stresa, takes about one hour.
Please note that the lake view is from the nearby park and from the
swimming pool area, not from the windows of the apartment.
