This remarkable castle can accommodate 12 – 14 guests and has

generously restored to its original brilliance. There

Firenze 6. The first two floors of the castle are rented at a reduced
rate for smaller groups in mid and low season.
Just
15 minutes from Florence, Castello Firenze is an impressive Etruscan
castle
that sits in the Florentine hills above the Arno river. Its dominant lookout position was very
strategic to its owners, an important Longobardo family. It served as a stronghold from which the
ancient road from Arezzo to Fiesole could be constantly viewed. In 1968 the present owners, the
Pecchioli
family, purchased the property. The old castle is still present in
fragments of
the walls, two doors and the tower, which forms part of the actual
building. Carefully and tastefully
restored in
perfect harmony with the style of the manor, Castello Firenze is an
elegant and
stately structure, splendidly furnished with valuable
Tuscan antiques that are
both beautiful and comfortable.
The
outdoor areas are well maintained and graceful and consist of a small
Italian
garden and pleasant areas for relaxing and dining ‘al fresco’. The swimming pool (6m X 12m) is particularly
unique in that it flows from the indoor limonaia ( former lemon
conservatory) out
into the Roman gardens. Expansive views
over the countryside are enjoyed from all parts of the property.
Castello
Firenze sits on a 200 hectare/495 acre estate and is part of a medieval
hamlet
where a handful of inhabitants live year round. The
castle is totally independent and private and its vineyards
and olive groves are some of the best in Tuscany. Guests
are welcome in the castle cantina where they can taste the
first class red and white wines produced on the property. Winetastings can be arranged on site for an extra fee. Adjacent to
and still
part of the castle is an ancient and still active church where weddings
can be
arranged.

dates: May 7 to October 1, 2011. The pool is partly covered and there
is a
changing room and shower.

lounge with an
antique stone olive press. Also in this
large room are two single divan beds (additional fee paid on site)
First Floor – Small lounge; spacious
double bedroom with en suite bathroom with
bathtub and shower; two twin bedded
rooms which share a bathroom and shower with massaging water jets. Each
of the
bedrooms offers views over the vineyards and valleys below.
Second floor – 1 master double bedroom
with bathroom with shower, 2 twin
bedded rooms, study/library, 1 bathroom with bath and shower, laundry
room.
Third floor - large den with a world
class billiard table, a satellite television and
games table.
