Located uphill from Stresa in the sweet village of Massino Visconti,
this recently restored villa dates from the 1400's and is related to
the Visconti castle located nearby.
The distinctive red of this house presents a friendly and warm figure
welcoming guests to enter the property through a row of handsome
pillars. Inside there is a ground level courtyard with five
large arches and a spacious loggia above on the first
floor. Each apartment has its own independent entrance and
furnished area.
The swimming pool, located just a
few steps from the courtyard, sits in a very panoramic position
offering remarkable views of Lake Maggiore and the mountains
beyond. The friendly owners are in residence on occasional
weekends and in August and share the grounds and swimming pool with
guests. They have recently restored the house with great
care and special attention has been given to the integrity of
historical details. In 2010, the pool will be open from April 3 -
September 25.

Villa Visconti offers a quiet and
peaceful environment as it faces Lake Maggiore with the center of
Massino Visconti behind the house. The village offers a
handful of grocery shops, cafes and restaurants and the Restaurant Leon
d'Oro located just 50 meters behind the villa welcomes guests and has a
catering and carry out service.
Maid service of two hours per week is included. Linens and pool
towels are provided. A grocery shopping service is available for
a small fee. Please note that all three units share the large patio
upstairs. From the parking level there are about 15 steps to reach the
garden. Additionally, all the bedrooms and bathrooms are located
upstairs, therefore the property is not recommended for guests with
walking difficulties.
About the
area
Villa Visconti is located in a
private and peaceful setting uphill from the lake but still in close
proximity to sightseeing and shopping. Arona and Stresa can be
easily reached by car. The scenic islands of Madre, Bella and
Isola dei Pescatori are reachable by ferry service on the lake from
Stresa. The island of Bella is renowned for the splendid Palazzo
Borromeo, now an art gallery, and fine Italian gardens. The gardens are
open from April 1st through October 31st from 8.30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.
Trains from Arona are 15 minutes away connecting to all major train
stations. Grocery shops are within walking distance in
Massino Visconti and a larger supermarket is in Gignese at 1km.
Lesa is 7km or 10 minutes by car. The ferry for the islands and
other destinations on Lake Maggiore is in Stresa which is 9 km
away.
Water sports such as sailing, windsurfing and water skiing are in
Stresa, Belgirate and Lesa (10 minutes by car).
Tennis and horseback riding are 15 minutes away.
