Located in the shadow of St. Francis’ Assisi,
this simple and characteristic house provides an authentic experience of the
Umbrian countryside and also easy access to Assisi and other noteworthy Umbrian
sights. A large swimming pool has just been built in 2007 and is shared with the
owner. It features marble elements used in the sundeck and benches and the
position in the vineyards with Assisi in the background is particularly
striking.
From the nearby
railway
station in S. Maria degli Angeli it is possible to reach
both
Florence and Rome by train in about 2 hours.
Signora Carmelita and her family live in the nearby manor villa and welcome
guests in a friendly and helpful manner. Signora is available to cook a typical
Umbrian dinner and her specialty is dishes prepared with the Cannara onion. The
town of Cannara is just 2 km away and for centuries has been famous for its
onions.
At 8km is the medieval town of Bevagna which is renowned for the ‘Mercato delle
Gaite’ that takes place annually the last week in June.
The house itself is located on the first floor of a typical Umbrian country
house. Historically, this upper floor was the living quarters and the ground
floor housed the animals. The ground floor is now used as storage by the owner.
Casa Camelita is accessed by an exterior staircase. It leads to a partially
covered sun terrace that is furnished and offers an ideal setting for a relaxing
and dining with lovely views.
Home grown products such as wine and jellies are for sale on the estate.
Pets are not permitted at Casa Carmelita.
