Villa Mima is a splendid 18th century stone farmhouse that lies roughly equal distance between
Florence, Siena, Pisa and the seaside. Gatherings of friends and family love
this villa for its ideal location and dominant position with expansive views
over the beautiful Chianti hills.
Completed in 2010: The owner has renovated Villa Mima
to add air conditioning in all the rooms, new baths and other comforts! Ensuite bathrooms for every bedroom.
Located on a 10-acre olive
orchard estate, Villa Mima is an impressive structure that was built at the
beginning of the 1800s. It comfortably accommodates up to 14 guests and
measures 390 sq meters in size. The current owner is an artist and lives in the
restored barn behind the main house in order to guarantee guests total
independence and complete privacy. He has recently restored Villa Mima, creating
harmony between the authentic Tuscan character and up-to-date modern
conveniences such as satellite television and wireless internet. Great respect
has been given to architectural style and traditional workmanship. This is
reflected in the immaculate white walls, handmade terracotta floor tiles and the
mighty oak beams. Elegant “pietra-serena” stone frames the windows and doors
are made of cypress wood with antique style brass fittings. This simplicity is
not accidental. It retains the gracefulness and integrity of the old farmhouse
while blending with its rural setting.
The atmosphere at Villa
Mima is one of privacy and peacefulness. The property is reached by 800 meters
of paved road and is accessed by a private driveway. The attractive
garden has a hammock and a number of benches for relaxing and reveling in the
lovely surroundings. The large swimming pool (12mX6m) sits in a very panoramic
position. High quality sun loungers are provided and, due to the full southern
exposure, there is sun continuously from morning to evening.
Guests can unwind around the pool, enjoying glasses of Chianti, or lounge on two panoramic terraces built
off the main house. Dinner can be taken by the pool or on the terraces. Guests
have two equally tempting gastronomic choices: cooking their own food in the
modern, fully equipped kitchen or on the BBQ, or hiring Villa Mima’s cook to
prepare dinners for the entire group . Meals are served with olive oil straight
from Villa Mima’s groves and much of the food and wine is produced by other
Italian estates in the surrounding region.
Villa Mima was designed to
take advantage of the soft Tuscan light and many of the rooms overlook the
valley and have been opened up by rounded arches. The natural beauty and
nostalgic country feeling is expressed through the antique stone, terra cotta
floors and warm shades of the wood beamed ceilings. Furnishings are simple and
include Tuscan hand wrought iron beds, antique furniture such as chest of
drawers and armoires and Belle Époque bathrooms.
